Marcus Rashford's rise at Manchester United has been a meteoric one. The young forward has come a long way since making his debut for the Red Devils under Louis Van Gaal as an 18-year-old in a Premier League clash against Watford in November 2015. He has since improved vastly under the tutelage of Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and looks set to thrive under United's new caretaker manager Ole Gunner Sloskjaer.
Rashford was among the goals as United thrashed Cardiff City 5-1 in the Premier League on Saturday. He scored the opening goal for his side in the 4th minute to give them early lead with a perfectly taken free-kick. He has developed into a key figure in the current United squad but can be lured to a move away from England as he is a top target for several elite European clubs.
According to English newspaper Express, Barcelona are all set to seal the deal for Rashford next summer and beat the likes of Real Madrid and AC Milan to his signing. Rashford future at the Old Trafford based club is uncertain following a struggling spell under former manager Jose Mourinho and United might lose a future star if things don't go their way under Sloskjaer.
Rashford has been a regular starter this season for United but struggled up front. He has managed to find the back of the net only five times this season and has registered five assists so far. As he continues to improve, Rashford might thrive under Solskjaer's reign as it was evident that he enjoyed the free-flowing style of football United played against Cardiff.
For the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, United scored five goals against any Premier League side as the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard expressed themselves well on the pitch. After Rashford scored the opening goal, it was Ander Herrera who doubled the lead in the 29th minute before Martial netted the third one in the 41st minute followed by two goals from Lingard to wrap up an easy win.
