Italian giants Juventus clinched yet another Serie A title this season, following their latest 2-1 win against Fiorentina.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has been the biggest star for the Bianconeris, scoring 19 league goals in addition to making 11 assists too.
But unfortunately so, the Italian leaders have not been able to replicate their domestic success in Europe, losing 3-2 in aggregate to Dutch side AFC Ajax in this season’s Champions League quarter-finals, as of latest.
Ronaldo’s arrival at Turin last summer was expected to be an added boost to the Old Lady’s title winning hopes in the Champions League, but now they may have to wait for at least another year before getting another shot at the coveted trophy.
Meanwhile, former Italian defender Marco Tardelli had a very different opinion on the Portuguese star, who said that Juventus needs to set their squad better, as other plauers seem to perform poorly due to the superstar’s presence.
“Juventus need to work in the management of the squad,” the former defender told Italian TV station Rai Sport, as quoted by Express.
“Cristiano Ronaldo may have played too much this year, but he is the one who imposes [the team’s attitude]. Against Ajax [in the Champions League] he could have done even more.”
“I think some players give less with Ronaldo; they suffer with him unconsciously. Dybala is one of them,” Tardelli added.
Dybala has just six league goals this season, as opposed to the 22 goals he scored in Juventus’ title-winning 2017-18 season, and Tardelli used his example as a case in point.
Up next, Ronaldo and co. will line up against Inter Milan on Sunday (28 April).
