Happy Friday, you weirdos and loonies out there! Not only is it Friday the 13th, but tonight there will also be a full moon, which means that eerie and unsettling activity will be at its highest potential. With that being said, we are calling a state of emergency and requesting, nay, ordering you to stay indoors! Such a punishment, we know, but we are only looking out for your safety and wellbeing. But not to worry, because whether you prefer Netflix, HBO, Hulu or Prime Video, you will not get bored thanks to the well-stacked list of movies and tv shows coming out on your favorite streaming services this weekend.
To combat the potential scaries, Netflix has supplied a bunch of great comedies that will warm your heart and make you feel better about the world. Get ready to both laugh and cry, folks, because the penultimate part/season of The Ranch is finally coming out! The Bennett family is back and as crazy as ever, especially after Luke (Dax Shepard) and Mary (Megyn Price) ran off to L.A. together! Once you are done binge-watching the series, be sure to check out the latest original movie, Tall Girl. Every high school has that one really tall kid that stands out (literally) from the crowd, and this movie sheds light on how no matter your size—vertical or otherwise— there is someone out there for everybody.
But if you want to embrace the paranormal, the strange and the slightly-dangerous, then dive into the freaky world the Duplass brothers have created in Room 104. The anthology series is set in a single room in an average American hotel; but each new resident of the hotel room are always anything but average! We are excited to see what new, crazy characters the brothers have thought up for the new season of this killer —pun intended— HBO series.
Curious about what else is hitting Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and HBO? Here’s what’s new on streaming this weekend.
The last season of the touted sitcom The Ranch is finally underway, and we could not have more mixed feelings about it. Part 7 of the series explores the events that transpired at the end of the last season; Colt and Abby are working on their strained relationship, father Beau is adjusting to life as a semi-retiree and lovebirds Luke and Mary are in California pursuing their intense, whirlwind romance. But with the end of this fantastic show looming closer, we are sure to expect some very big moments and dramatic changes in the characters’ plotlines. Are Colt and Abby going to work through their issues now that they have a child, and are Luke and Mary really going to end up together? Find out when The Ranch Part 7, starring Ashton Kutcher, Sam Elliot and Dax Shepard, arrives on Netflix Friday.
Netflix is on a roll with their amazing high school romantic comedies, and their latest film Tall Girl is no different. The film is a coming-of-age story about 6-foot teen Jodi who is a lonely social outcast at her high school. But when a foreign exchange student arrives at school who is *gasp!* taller than her, she enlists the help of her beauty queen sister to help her compete with the most popular girl in school for his eye. Starring Ava Michelle, Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) and Angela Kinsey (The Office), Tall Girl is a feel-good movie that preaches self-love, and how you define yourself is not constricted by what the universe gave you.
Fully embrace the eerie ambiance this Friday by tuning into the season premiere of Room 104, HBO’s hair-raising anthology series. The Duplass Brothers have conjured up a bevy of new individuals that will grace a single room of an average American hotel. Featuring the acting talents of Hollywood heavyweights like June Squibb (Nebraska), Luke Wilson (Old School) and Sam Richardson (Veep), this thriller/comedy show is set to get even wilder than previously thought possible after the insane antics that viewers enjoyed in the first two seasons. Will these new episodes make us pee our pants out of fear… or laughter? Find out with the Season 3 premiere of Room 104.
